Welcome to the online world of Glencadem Farm! We are a small stud situated on the outskirts of Nannup, a quiet country village in the beautiful South West of Western Australia. As a young child, born and raised on the Isle of Wight, off the South coast of England, I spent my childhood mucking out, grooming, bathing, and most importantly riding a myriad of ponies at our local riding school. Most of these ponies were Heinz 57's - cobs ranging from 13hh, all the way through to 17hh 'giants', who looked absurdly big for my size! My love for Highland Ponies however came from experience, and when, in 2010 I was given the opportunity to purchase my first Highland Pony here in Australia, I didn't say no. Torridon Gracie joined the team as our first purebred mare, and she showed me the true character, loyalty and spirit of the Highland.

Highland Ponies originate from Scotland, one of the largest native Mountain and Moorland breeds of the British Isles. They are a fantastically hardy pony, and incredibly versatile. Although these magnificent animals are useful for just about any discipline, they are still listed as Vulnerable through the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, due to having a low number of breeding females. It is this reason that we are working closely with a number of other studs to expand our Gene Pool, and import frozen semen from New Zealand, America and the United Kingdom. More people deserve to have the opportunity to be involved - at least once! - with a Highland Pony, and we hope that by introducing more bloodlines we can continue to improve, and preserve the old lines which will soon be but a memory.
